Acknowledgments

With deep admiration and love I want to thank the monks of La Valsainte especially but also all other members of strict contemplative religious communities who by their radical and consequent lives, focused on God alone, give a vivid testimony of the greatness, glory and love of the eternal, living and true God.

First I am thinking of two great saints: St. Theresa of the Child Jesus and St. John of the Cross, through whom I got introduced to the contemplative life in my early youth and who have become my best friends. Next I am thinking of Father Anton Jans, through whom I got my first contact with the Carthusians and La Valsainte. These three representatives of a strict contemplative life I never met in person of course. I read their books or books about them but I also have been feeling their loving closeness through the mystical union of all members of the Church.

I am grateful for the love and friendship my family and I have been privileged to receive from Father Maria Joseph and Father Bonifaz of La Valsainte. Both of them have already been permanently called home by God. Fr. Bonifaz had a unique affection for his and our Heavenly Mother. After he had died I began to realize myself that the Blessed Virgin is my Heavenly Mother as well, given to me by her son Jesus, dying on the cross [*], to help me to die to myself in order to live for her son alone.

My special thanks go also to Fr.Brown O.S.B. of the abbey Notre Dame de Randol in France who encouraged me to continue to work on this book. Another great encouragement was the undescribable beauty of the gregorian chant sung daily by the monks at Notre Dame de Randol to the glory of the only God.

In deep gratitude I am also thinking of the Rev.Fr.Ernest A. Beck of Wilmington, NC, who over many years has accompanied me and my family with his prayers while celebrating Holy Mass.

Finally I want to express my thanks to all those software developers who do not selfishly develop their products just for their own profit but who in a true christian spirit or at least as `anonymous christians' share their knowledge and skills with the rest of the world. Without them it would not have been possible for me at all to use a computer to develop Mystical Symphony or anything else I have done in the past 20 years.
